Success & Failure

I finally beat Kingdom Hearts last night.  I decided not to try to get everything in the game accomplished, so I could get on to the sequel.  It turns out that finishing the game wasn’t all that hard, but one part did require a little frustrating trial-and-error.  The finale was pretty good, although it was blatantly open-ended.  It seemed to just barely stop short of showing “Coming soon… Kingdom Hearts II!”  Actually, it turns out that it ties very tightly in with the Game Boy Advance game, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, which, in turn, leads directly into Kingdom Hearts II.  I’m tempted to get Chain of Memories to complete the narrative, but Kingdom Hearts II seems to be doing a fair job of filling me in.  Still, it would be fun to get the full experience first-hand.

Last week was a disaster for my diet.  I completely ignored it and I paid a terrible price – gaining over 5 pounds.  So, after three weeks, I’m right back where I started.  I’m taking it in stride, though.  Misty is helping out by cooking at home more, and I’m doing my best to stay conscious of what I eat again.

I'm melting!

I’m such a tease.  No, there will be no sex talk right now, but I may get back to it in the near future.  I know you’re just helpless from anticipation.

I weighed myself again today, and I’ve lost weight for the second week in a row.  I’ve now lost a total of six pounds and I’m under the 300 pound mark for the first time in a long while.  The diet is starting to affect my food choices, too.  I’m more reluctant to order greasy foods, and I find myself enjoying lighter fare like sushi and salad.  It really feels good to make this progress.  Misty’s been a big help too.  She’s encouraged me to keep on the diet despite temptation and she prepares good healthy food for me to take to work.  I couldn’t do it without her.

One side-effect of my weight loss is that the points I’m allotted by Weight Watchers has gone down.  In case you didn’t know, the plan I’m on assigns point values to food based on calories, fat, and fiber.  I’ve now lost one point, which means just a little bit less snacking during the day.  Honestly, there have been several days where I didn’t use my entire point allocation, so I doubt I’ll miss it.  I can see now how the gradual decrease in points helps ease you into healthier diets as you lose weight.   Very clever.

I got a new TV.  Bigger screen, sharper picture.  I spent a bunch of time heaving furniture around after getting it home.  A bunch of my friends came over last night to break it in with me.  Good times.
